Classic Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe

Classic Buffalo Chicken Dip is the ultimate crowd-pleasing party appetizer! Packed with juicy shredded chicken, rich cream cheese, spicy Buffalo wing sauce, creamy ranch (or blue cheese dressing), and melted cheddar cheese, this warm, bubbly dip tastes just like authentic Buffalo wings without the messy bones. Serve it alongside tortilla chips, crackers, celery sticks, or toasted baguette slices. Classic Buffalo Chicken Dip

  • 2 cups (approx. 12 oz) shredded cooked chicken (rotisserie or boiled chicken breast)
  • 1 block (8 oz) cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • ½ cup Frank’s RedHot® Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce (or preferred Buffalo sauce)
  • ½ cup Ranch dressing (or Blue Cheese dressing)
  • ½ cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Monterey Jack or Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ¼ cup blue cheese crumbles (optional)
  • 2 tbsp green onions, finely sliced (for garnish)
  • For Serving Tortilla chips, celery sticks, carrot sticks, pita chips, or crackers
  1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or a 1-quart casserole dish with cooking spray.
  2. Combine Creamy Base: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Stir in the Buffalo hot sauce and Ranch (or blue cheese) dressing until completely combined.
  3. Fold in Chicken & Cheese: Add the shredded cooked chicken, half of the shredded cheddar cheese, and half of the Monterey Jack cheese to the bowl. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly coated.
  4. Transfer & Top: Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack, and optional blue cheese crumbles.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, or until the dip is heated through, bubbly around the edges, and the top cheese is melted.
  6. Garnish & Serve: Remove from heat, sprinkle with sliced green onions, and let sit for 5 minutes before serving warm with chips and fresh celery sticks.
  • Use Freshly Shredded Cheese: Pre-bagged shredded cheeses contain anti-caking agents that prevent them from melting smoothly. Shred your own cheddar and Monterey Jack for maximum creaminess.
  • Slow Cooker Method: Combine all ingredients in a small slow cooker (Crock-Pot). Cover and cook on LOW for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until melted and warm. Switch to ‘WARM’ setting for party serving.
  • Soft Cream Cheese is Essential: Make sure your cream cheese is completely at room temperature before mixing to prevent lumps in your dip base.
  • Make Ahead & Storage: Assemble the dip in the baking dish, cover tightly with foil, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. When ready to bake, add 5 extra minutes to the baking time. Classic Buffalo Chicken Dip
